Londa Jacques
Secretary |
Londa Jacques (Secretary)
Londa Jacques is a charter member of Diggin' Shoreline. She lives in the Ballinger neighborhood of Shoreline. Londa fell in love with gardening in her grandmothers’ garden but learned the art of vegetable gardening her Dad and from experienced plot mates at the University District P-Patch in the 1980s. In 1988 she moved to Shoreline and soon discovered that gardening in community was lots more fun than gardening alone in a big yard. Until the creation of Diggin’ Shoreline, community gardening in Shoreline remained an unfulfilled wish. She served 8 years on the board of North King County Little League, 12 years on Shoreline Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services board, and has served on the board of Ballinger Neighborhood Association since 2002. In 2005, she rediscovered the joy of propagating from seed, and in 2011, sprouted the heirloom tomato starts for Diggin’ Shoreline’s first major fundraiser. Londa also currently serves as head cook for POPY’s Café, a free community meal program in Shoreline. An artist and retired marketing manager, she brings design / marketing presentation skills to the group. |
